On Sunday, April 11, 1999, at approximatly 12 midnight, TJ and Robin met "cruising the strip".
Earlier in the night, one of my (Robin's) friends (Melissa) had asked me if I had ever gone cruising before. I had before so I told her yes. I asked her if she had in return and she said no. SO we decided to go out and see who all would be out on a Sunday night about 10pm. Little did we know this would turn into a love story!! OUR Love story! :)

It was about 55 degrees out side and we decided to take my convertable out for the night. We bundled up in our winter jacket's just in case we wanted to put the top down. So we're out driving back and forth on Milton Avenue. We see a couple hotties out there bored out of their minds just like ourselves. About our third time around at a stop light, a big huge monster-like-truck pulls up besides the passenger side where Melissa is seated. The guy driving the truck says something to her and she can't hear. Her window's just cracked. She rolls her window down a bit more and hears him say, "Why don't you put the top down?". Just as she was about to respond to him, the light turns green. We both get stopped at the next light (a block down) and he says, "Light 'em up!!" We both don't know this lingo so we just kind of laugh at him.
At the next green light, Melissa says, "Robin he's cute!!". All I could do was laugh. I say, "Then talk to him!! Don't ignore him or he'll drive off and find some other hoochies, like ourselves!" So by the next time around, the monster truck is in back of us. By the next, their on the other side of us. I look at the passenger and oh goodness. It was like love at first sight!! It's this good lookin' guy with blonde hair, big blue eyes, and the best smile. Melissa says, "Robin, that guy looks like a guy I went to school with named Craig." So I roll my window all the way down, wait until we get to the next stop light, and do the "Gray PouPon" motion and asked him if his name was Craig. He couldn't hear me. The truck was too loud and I asked him right when it turned green. So we get to the next stop light and ask him again. He says, "NO. It's TJ!" I was like, "What? EJ?" He says, "NO TJ". I thought to myself, 'Cute name for a cute guy!!'
On our next time around the "strip", they have a pick-up line book. (their on the passenger side) The first one they flash at us is, "Are you single? Lick your lips for yes!!" While Melissa is laughing so hard and drooling all over herself I ask her, "What are you doing?" She continues to laugh and says, "Read that sign!" I read it and lick my lips also. At the next light, they flash one, "What are your phone numbers?" I'm thinking that if we give them our numbers, they can call us if they really want anything out of it. So we write down our phone numbers.
Our last time around the strip, they flash their lights at us. So we pull over. We sat and talked for about 5 minutes. Melissa and I go home that night not thinking anything of what had just happened.
Until the next day...........
About 3pm I get a weird message on my answering machine asking what I'm doing that night, if I feel like going to watch a movie, get together or just hang out and play cards. Sure enough, it was TJ who called. I called the number that he gave me on the answering machine. I get this other voice on the phone. I ask if TJ was there. The guy says, 'no he's not. he just left for the hospital.' I start freaking out and I don't even know if this is true! I asked who I was talking to and he tells me (laughing), "This is Ben. TJ had left for the hospital about 2 minutes ago, and it's your fault that he had to go!! He was working on his car and smashed his hand with a hammer and needs stitches! He was waiting for your call but decided to go outside and start working on it again."
So from there on, TJ and I have been together. We dated for about 6 months before we REALLY started talking about getting married. To look at some pics and hear about our wedding, please go to the link below!
